Link sighed. Is this the right thing to do? He knew that Pit liked him and vice versa, but to go to extreme measures so he would always be with him?
Well, it's now or never. I'm already here. The Hylian knocked on the door of the room where Pokémon Trainer Red stays in. It seemed unreasonable for anyone to go to Red for help, mostly because he only has smarts about his world. But ever since that incident, Link just had to go to him.
A voice from within the room told Link to come in. The hero of time did as he was told. Inside Red's room, he could see that everything's pretty much normal. The trainer's team, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard were resting on top of the bed. And being held by Squirtle was a small doll that looked just like Ike.
"Hey there Ike, I see you like staying here." Link smirked at the doll. The doll seemed to be alive as it suddenly changed its position, turning away from him.
That's none of your business. A masculine voice came out of nowhere. "Of course it isn't." Link seemed to be having a conversation with the doll.
In all truth, the Ike doll was the real Ike, leader of the Greil Mercenaries. It was all because of Red that this happened to him.
"Link, what is it that you wanted to talk of?" Red suddenly appeared out of nowhere, scaring the Hylian half to death. The brunette, giggling a little, took Ike out of Squirtle's grasp and propped him on his shoulder. Link just stood there, surprised and frightened. "Well...?" The trainer raised his eyebrow, wanting a clean answer.
"Um…well, you see…" The Hylian stuttered, not knowing how to exactly say it. He motioned the trainer to lean in closer, as if wanting to whisper it instead, rather than say it aloud. Ike moved up to Red's cap so he may hear it as well.
"Oh? Hmm…well, uh…you really sure? What?" After the mute conversation, Red and
Ike both just stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to say. The trainer was rather worried; the same applied to the Ragnell wielder.
"I don't know, Link…" the brunette finally said. He then carefully grabbed Ike from the top of his cap and held him near. "I mean, all of it was merely an accident, something that I never knew! How I to know what was would have happened?!"
As he recalled back to the incident, he couldn't help but shed a tear, considering it was his fault to begin with. Red, don't be sorry for yourself. Most things aren't what we expect and it wasn't you who did this. Ike tried to comfort, with sympathy found in his voice. "But still!" Red retorted "She was related to me! And she can't take the blame so I must! And I-I mean look at you Ike! You used to be a very proud, strong mercenary, representing along with Marth the pride of Fire Emblem!
But now…y-you're now just…just…" Red's words became incomprehensible as more tears flowed down.
Seeing Red so out of character made Link have second thoughts about his decision. If the same thing happened to Pit, would the angel be sad and sentenced forever in that state? He looked back again at the two. Ike climbed out of Red's arms and tried comforting him as best as he could. Red however, still couldn't stop himself from crying.
A knock came from the door. Link opened it and was surprised to see that it was Pit. A huge blush exploded through his whole face. The same was applied to Pit.
"Oh, uh...hey Link. Is Red in here?" The angel asked. The Hylian merely nodded, still stunned.
Red was wiping his tears away when Pit entered his room. The angel asked him a question, and when Link looked at the two, Red was wearing that same expression on his face earlier ago. Then, the trainer sighed, told Pit to go to a blind curve of the room, and followed suit.
Link didn't understand what was happening, but suddenly, he heard Pit scream. He ran to the corner and there he saw Red just looking down at his palm.
"Red, what just happened? Where's Pit?" Link asked, with a mixture of rage and concern heard in his voice.
"Pit's…" Red didn't continue further as he just shoved something onto the Hylian's hand. When Link looked, he was at a loss for words. In his hands was a doll with messy brown hair, wearing a white toga. At his back were fluffy white wings.
"Pit…" Link didn't know what to say.
"Pit requested this, Link." Red said. "He said he always wanted to be with you, no matter what. He also said that he would do anything just to be by your side, even to the point of not being able to battle anymore. But I think it would have been better if he would have said it to you instead."
Link left the room, on his shoulders was the doll.
"…Link?" A soft gentle voice was heard.
Link looked onto his shoulders and smiled. He knew everything will be fine from then on.
